MIT recently established a cheerleading squad.

Far from the stereotypical image of a group of senseless girls, these eight women and two men may be among the smartest cheerleaders in the world — future physicists, materials scientists, and nuclear engineers.

“There’s this stereotype of the dumb cheerleader, but at MIT nobody fits the image,” says Jennifer Navarro, a senior studying mechanical engineering and a former high school cheerleader from Las Vegas, who founded the squad because, she says, MIT had no pep.

The squad does not regularly do math or science cheers, but they do love this one:

E to the U, d-U-E to the X, DX
Cosine! Secant! Tangent! Sine!
Integral! Radical! Mu, DV
Slipstick! Slide rule! MIT!
