This mini cheetah is the first four-legged robot capable of performing a backflip, a skill that highlights its suitability for use in any terrain. The robot was developed by Benjamin Katz, a technical associate in the Department of Mechanical Engineering (MechE), and Jared Di Carlo ’19 from the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, working with Associate Professor Sangbae Kim of MechE. The robot’s abilities were demonstrated during the launch of the MIT Stephen A. Schwarzman College of Computing in February.
